Bizarre" New Dinosaur: Giant Raptor Found in Argentina

Scientists have discovered what they say is a completely unexpected new giant dinosaur that lived 70 million years ago in Argentina.
At 16.5 to 21 feet long (5 to 6.5 meters) long, depending on its tail size, Austroraptor cabazai is among the largest of the slender, carnivorous, two-legged dinosaurs called raptors, said Fernando Novas, the lead researcher behind the discovery.

The dinosaur's incomplete skeleton — including head, neck, back, and foot bones—was extracted from rocks in the far-southern Patagonia region
Q: What is your advice for kids who want to grow up to be paleontologists?
A: Paleontologists study bones of extinct animals, such as dinosaurs. To be one, you should read as much as you can, go on digs that museums run if you can, go to college and study biology and then study some more after college to get a degree in paleontology. Then you can be one of the only 40 people in the whole world who are professional dinosaur scientists! Did You Know: Dinosaurs lived and evolved for over 185 million years until they became extinct. The cause has not been proven yet, but many believe that an asteroid Over 9 miles wide hit the earth In the Gulf of Mexico. Dino Fact -The dinosaur with the longest name, the micropachycephalosaurus, was also the smallest dinosaur. Dino-Fact Scientists believe that some types of dinosaurs may have lived for up to 300 years.
Things You Didn't Know About Dinosaurs:Dinosaurs are not extinct – Birds are living dinosaurs. Most dinosaurs are not found by scientists. Four in five dinosaurs are found by amateurs. Some dinosaurs had more than 1000 teeth. All dinosaurs could replace their teeth at any time. Dinosaurs could swim and probably climb trees, but not fly. Chinese dinosaurs with feathers on all four limbs have recently been found, no bigger than squirrels.500 pounds – The amount of meat a T. rex could swallow in one bite. How long ago did dinosaurs roam the earth?
65 million years ago. Dinosaurs roamed the earth for over 180 million years, becoming extinct about 65 million years ago. How often is a new dinosaur discovered?
Around every four weeks. Nearly half of all dinosaurs known have been discovered in just the past two decades.

LONDON (Oct. 27) - British authorities say the fossilized skull of a giant sea monster has been found off England's southern coast.
The fossil came from a pliosaur, a ferocious predator that lived in the oceans 150 million years ago. The skull was discovered in Dorset by a collector and measures 8 feet in length. The discovery was announced Tuesday.
Scientists believe the creature would have been about 52 feet long.
David Martill, a paleontologist from the University of Portsmouth, says pliosaurs had short necks and huge, crocodile-like heads with powerful jaws and a set of razor-sharp teeth.
He said they used paddle-like limbs to propel their bodies through the water and were generally carnivores.
The skull will be put on display in a Dorset museum.
